Thinking about when to send your child to preschool or school
Three-year-old (Pre-Kindergarten) Kindergarten is funded by the government and every child is entitled to one year of 3-year-old kindergarten. There is no option to repeat 3-year-old Kindergarten.
Four-year-old Kindergarten is funded by the government and every child is entitled to one year of 4-year-old kindergarten. To receive repeat funding a child must exhibit at least two areas of developmental difficulties, they can not repeat because they are young. The kindergarten teacher must lodge a Declaration of eligibility for a second year of funded kindergarten (SF06) with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development during the year prior to the year repeat funding is required. The teacher may consult with the Yarra Rangers Preschool Field Officer to discuss your child’s repeat funding application.
