Government-Funded Kindergarten Entitlements
Three-Year-Old (Pre-Kindergarten) Kindergarten
Three-year-old kindergarten is government-funded, and every child is entitled to one year of participation. There is no option to repeat three-year-old kindergarten.
Four-Year-Old Kindergarten
Four-year-old kindergarten is also government-funded, with each child entitled to one year of attendance. A second year of funded kindergarten is only available for children who demonstrate significant developmental delays in at least two areas. A child is not eligible to repeat kindergarten solely based on their age.

If a second year of funding is required, the kindergarten teacher must submit a Declaration of Eligibility for a Second Year of Funded Kindergarten (SF06) to the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development during the year prior. The teacher may also consult with the Yarra Ranges Preschool Field Officer to support the application process.
